Choosing the Right Sleeping Bag for You by Their Sleeping Bag Rating

If you are in the market to buy yourself a brand new sleeping bag, you are going to want to check out what that sleeping bag rating is so that you know which one is the best buy for you.  Sleeping bag ratings are based upon the different “seasons” in which they feel as though the bag would be used.  In all, there are five different seasons.  For a sleeping bag to be truly the best in its field, it needs to withstand all of the major inspections which should occur.

A sleeping bag is tested for comfort and for the ability to withstand the outdoors temperature.  A high rating in either one of these categories is important for the sheer ability for people to want to buy the sleeping bag.  There will be an upper and a lower rating for each of these different comfort levels.  An upper score is how the sleeping bag performs when it is in the absolute best shape such as just having been recently bought.  A lower score is the score which the sleeping bag will be rated should it be used for many expeditions out doors.  However, these ratings may be changed as time goes by and the sleeping bag beings to deteriorate.

Sleeping bag ratings are designed to help you choose the appropriate sleeping bag for yourself so that you are able to be as comfortable as possible in whatever degree it may be outside of your sleeping bag.  A high sleeping bag rating does not necessary mean it is the best – you will want to look at both the upper and lower scores to see how well the sleeping bag maintains itself after a few uses.  If you get a great bag with a high sleeping bag rating but it loses that rating after one trip, then it was not worth your money.
